Announcements

Write an announcement once, choose when it goes out, and let Guaca post it, repeat it and remind people before the event. Compose in the dashboard, or post quickly from Discord with /anuncio.

The dashboard composer

Dashboard → Announcements shows a live preview of the exact message Discord will display while you write. An announcement can have:

  • a channel, and who to ping: nobody, @everyone, @here, or chosen roles;
  • a small kicker line above the title, a title with an emoji, an intro, up to 10 sections with headings, up to 25 fields, a closing line and a colour;
  • a thumbnail (the server icon or an upload) and a banner (generated by Guaca with its own subtitle, or uploaded);
  • up to 5 link buttons.

To name a member, write @username (or their server name) anywhere in the intro, a section, a field or the closing: the bot turns it into a tag that opens their profile. A tag does not notify them; only the ping setting above does. The preview warns about any name that matches nobody.

A sample announcement exactly as the composer previews it: kicker, title, two sections, fields, a banner, a link button, and the event time Discord shows in each reader’s own time zone.

Scheduling

  • Save a draft, post now, or pick a publish time. Times are typed and shown in the server’s clock (Dashboard → Server → time zone), not your browser’s, so everyone on the team sees the same time.
  • Repeat weekly (same weekday and time) or monthly (same day and time), with an optional end date. A weekly 20:00 post stays at 20:00 across daylight-saving changes.
  • Give it an event time and up to 5 reminders, from 5 minutes to 2 weeks before. Reminders are posted as replies to the announcement and can repeat the ping. On a repeating announcement, the event and its reminders move forward with every occurrence.
  • From the list you can post a scheduled announcement now, cancel it, take a posted one down, delete it, or duplicate it as a starting point for the next.

Guaca checks for due announcements and reminders every minute. A post that fails is retried a few times, and /anuncio lista shows anything that still failed, with the reason.

From Discord: /anuncio

/anuncio needs Manage Server, and its subcommands are Spanish in every language:

  • publicar posts a one-section announcement now, or at YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM in the server’s clock. In the text, \n starts a new line and || a new paragraph. Add an evento time for reminders one day and one hour before.
  • borrador posts or schedules a draft written in the dashboard; previa shows you any announcement privately, with mentions that do not ping.
  • lista shows what is scheduled, pending reminders and failures; cancelar stops a scheduled one; borrar takes a posted one down.
In the announcement channel Guaca needs Send Messages, Embed Links and Attach Files (for banners), and Mention @everyone, @here and All Roles to ping. Servers that added Guaca before September 2026 have to grant that last one by hand; see Getting started.
