Community

The parts of Guaca that make a server feel lived in. All of them start switched off and post only in the channels you choose.

Welcome and goodbye

  • /config welcome #channel greets every member who joins, pinging them; /config goodbye #channel notes departures without pinging anyone. Bots are skipped.
  • Write your own message with {user}, {username}, {server} and {count}, or leave it empty for Guaca’s own line in the server’s language.
  • In Dashboard → Moderation you can add a banner image with the member’s name, a title of up to 24 characters and a subtitle of up to 52, which can use {count} and {server}. If the image is slow to draw, the text goes out on its own rather than keeping the new member waiting.

# welcome

Welcome <@3> to Luig Rivals! Make yourself at home.

Starboard

/config starboard #channel collects well-loved messages. When a message reaches the threshold of the chosen reaction (3 ⭐ by default, up to 50), Guaca quotes it in the starboard channel and keeps the count on that post up to date as reactions come and go. The author’s own reaction counts; reactions inside the starboard channel itself are ignored. The entry is dated when the original was posted, not when it was starred, so it stops drifting to the top every time somebody reacts.

What gets quoted is what the message actually says. For a person that is their text and their picture. For a bot the message usually lives in an embed — an announcement’s content is often just @everyone — so the embed’s title, body and fields are flattened into the entry instead, and the leading ping is dropped. Embeds are only quoted from bots, because every embed on a person’s message is a link preview Discord scraped from a url already in the text.

Giveaways

/giveaway posts the prize with an Enter button. Pressing it confirms your entry privately and tells you how many have entered. A giveaway runs from 1 minute to 30 days with 1 to 20 winners; when it ends, the winners are drawn and announced in a reply to the original post, automatically. The host cannot enter their own giveaway.

Role menus

/rolemenu posts a titled message with up to five buttons, one per role. Members press a button to take the role and press it again to drop it. Roles carrying admin-level permissions, and roles above Guaca’s own, are refused when the menu is made, so a role menu can never become a self-service route to power.

Birthdays

  • Members save theirs with /birthday set: a day and a month only, never the year. /birthday clear forgets it.
  • With a birthday channel set (/config birthday-channel), Guaca greets everyone whose birthday it is, once a day, in one message. “Today” follows the server’s time zone, and 29 February birthdays are celebrated on the 28th in other years.
  • The greeting is written in the server’s language.

Auto-reactions

In Dashboard → Server, give a channel up to five emoji and Guaca reacts with them to every new message posted there, including posts from webhooks and other bots. Handy for a suggestions channel (👍 👎) or an announcements feed. Guaca needs Add Reactions in that channel.
